The Java Institute for Advanced Technology was Awarded the SQA


The Java Institute for Advanced Technology Ceremonially Received the Scottish Qualifi- cations Authority (SQA) Centre Approval Status.
The Java Institute for Advanced Technology recently added yet another milestone when it ceremonially received the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Centre Approval Status. The Chairman of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology, Dr. Ishantha Siribaddana, received the prestigious SQA Centre Approval Certificate by Mrs. Margaret Curran, the International Regional Manager of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
This special event was also graced by the presence of Mr. Bhatiya Tissera, the Managing Director of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology, Mr. Siddhartha Nanayakkara, the Country Manager of the Scottish Qualifications Authority, Professor Vidanage P. Karunarathne, the Head of the Faculty of Management and Academic Council Member of JIAT, Professor Senarathna, Lecturer and Academic Council Member of JIAT, as well as other distinguished members of the Institute. Mrs. Margaret Curran addressed the parents of the students of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology during this joyous occasion.
Special Message of Congratulations by Honourable Cabinet Minister Sajith Premadasa-
Honourable Cabinet Minister Sajith Premadasa, who was to attend this event but unfortunately was unable to attend, sent forth a special message congratulating the Java Institute for Advanced Technology on achieving this historic milestone. Furthermore, Honourable Sajith Premadasa sentforty-one best wishes for all the future endeavours of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology. The message of congratulations sent by Honourable Sajith Premadasa was read by his representative in the presence of the distinguished guests and parents during the joyous ceremony.
Margaret Curran, International Regional Manager, SQA, addresses the large gathering of Parents and Staff Members of the Java Institute-
This historic moment was marked by a special Parent -Teacher meeting and seminar held on the 24th of January at the BMICH. This event was organised by the Java Institute for Advanced Technology to educate parents regarding the SQA, the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework (SCQF), and the link between the SQA, SCQF and the Java Institute for Advanced Technology.
This meetingwas especially held for a large gathering of parents of a multitude of students of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology. Distinguished members, including senior lecturers and professors as well as Mrs.Margaret Curran, the International Regional Manager of the SQA, attended this meeting.Furthermore, staff members and members of the Management of the Java Institute, including Dr.Ishantha Siribaddana, the Chairman of the Institute, as well as Mr.BhatiyaTissera, the Managing Director of the Institute, attended this meeting. This particular event can be considered as a milestone in the eventful history of the Java Institute for Advanced Technology.
About the SQA-
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is Scotland?s national body for qualifications up to and beyond the degree level and the SQA is accountable to the Scottish Government. The SQA provides internationally recognised qualifications that allow students international mobility and pathways into universities, college or work and offers qualifications developed in partnership with colleges and universities. Furthermore, the SQA provides a wide range of high quality, internationally recognised qualifications and associated services.
The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) is a tool that is used to compare and cross-reference Scottish Qualifications against the European Qualifications Framework to decide entrance requirements to Universities of the European Union and colleges. Furthermore, the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) ensures that qualifications meet Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) standards and that they are equally accessible, flexible, relevant and of high quality. The Java Institute for Advanced Technology, in collaboration with the SQA, has SCQF credit rated the PCJT Software Engineer Qualification as an SQA customised award and this gives these students the same recognition, international mobility and pathways to universities or careers in Software Engineering.
